QBronco
wmu's brand-new quantum computing club, taking members + officers
western michigan university · kalamazoo · est. fall '26
hey. we're a small group of broncos who got curious about quantum computing and decided to just… figure it out together. you don't need to be a physics major. you don't need to know any of this yet.
the whole point is we learn it as a group, no experience needed, so bring a notebook and a coffee. if "a qubit can be |0〉 + |1〉 at once" sounds confusing, good. that's exactly why we meet.
what we actually do
- weekly study sessions. we learn quantum computing from the ground up: qubits, superposition, real Qiskit code on actual IBM machines. the slightly absurd north star: building our own custom QPU (a quantum processing unit). yeah. we're going to try.
- hackathons & competitions. we're hosting our very own IBM Qiskit hackathon right here on campus, and we're always hunting for more to travel to or jump into online.
- speaker nights & events. quantum speaker nights with people who actually do this for a living, plus Qiskit Fall Fest, socials, and whatever else we cook up through the year.
stuff in the works
- weekly study nights (the main thing)
- an intro-to-Qiskit crash session to kick off the semester
- our own IBM Qiskit hackathon, here on campus
- quantum speaker nights + Qiskit Fall Fest
(we're brand new, so some of this is still half-scribbled. the ig has the real schedule as we lock it in.)
come study with us
first one's the hardest. after that it's just part of your week. easiest way in, as a member or officer, is the sign-up form. takes a minute, tells us you're in.

don't know the first meeting date yet? join anyway. we'll post it soon on the ig, and we'll save you a seat.
